Our project is based on re-use of selected parts of Autostrada del Sole as a multifunctional structure called GREEN CONNECT, connecting people with nature and offering different activities for local inhabitants and tourists. Existing highway sections between Scilla and Bagnara are filled with small scale permanent and temporary interventions concerning: agriculture, recreation, sport, ecology, sustainable technologies, education, art, entertainment and more... all in accesible public space covered with curtain of natural plants. Some of the functions blur into existing landcape around, extending our revitalisation plan for Solar Park South. The GREEN CONNECT functions also as a traffic area, mostly for pedestrians, with additional ways to get to surrounding villages and new „function islands” in between. The external green skin consists on numerous plants, creating beautifull collage of architecture and nature - a new interpretation of Giovanni Battista Piranesi`s art.
