Bio-farm will produce local varieties of fruits, vegetables and flowers. They will be cultivated in sophisticated glass greenhouses using hydroponic, aeroponic and aquaponic techniques with computer controlled temperatures, humidity and water requirements. Yields are expected to be 5 to 6 times more than standard methods. In tunnels, artificial lamps such as RGB LED, metal halide and fluorescent will be used to sustain plant growth. Bio-road Farm is made up of a series of prototypes creating a linked variety of activities. Each is of modular lightweight metal construction with an upper walkway/cycle deck and lower buggy path. Solar panels and wind turbines are used to generate power for the farm’s consumption whereas irrigation systems use harvested rain and recycled water. Cost Estimate (farms only) Typical Prototype floor area = 5.25x6.5 m = 34m²; Open road farm = 1420 euros/m² x 34m² = 48,280Euros /prototype; Tunnel Farm = 2300 euros/m² x 34m² = 78,200Euros/prototype; |
