Based on a solar suitability analysis, trough-type solar arrays are proposed in areas that receive sunlight throughout the day to maximize efficiency. Vertical wind turbines are proposed for areas that are not screened directly from the wind blowing in from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north. This type of turbine will allow a greater density of wind generation in the limited project space. The area already contains fertile farm land, but space is limited on the steep coastline. A solution to this that is proposed in the design is vertical algae farming for bio-fuels. Other areas of Solar Park South are proposed to be natural open space for community gardens, local artwork, and vineyards. Some existing service roads will be upgraded to provide the surrounding communities better access to the project site. The benefits of this design are an abundance of renewable energy, new jobs created, eco-tourism as a green energy leader, community integration, and an adjustable budget. |
