The design concept of this proposal relies heavily on the fact that the proposed elements will not create an eyesore that will clash with the lush surrounding landscape, but rather it is visually highlighted as a symbol of sustainability and harmony with the environment. An estimated 50-80 new jobs will be created through the management and maintenance of the combined effort towards the solar power, the wind power, and the algae farm. The power output of these resources will also produce income through the power it creates for local, cooperating utility companies. 2.8 acres (1.1 hectares) of solar area is in the design. This is enough area to produce up to 21.4 mW/day of electricity in optimal conditions. A preliminary budget estimates this proposal between 39-44 million dollars (USD). However, this number is flexible in that it can be scaled down to around a $6-9 million project if the amount of programmed space is greatly reduced. |
