The concept includes solutions to restore natural areas damaged by the the viaducts, and also to reduce heat island effect. Green areas of native landscape, with drainage systems similar to green roofs, and small trees in movable planter boxes with a self irrigation rainwater collection system are proposed along the linear solar park. To extend the life cycle of the viaducts and restore the natural environment, Ivy will grow above native green drainage boards over a waterproofing membrane protecting the decaying reinforced concrete by the Mediterranean's salty air. The viaduct will visually blend with the existing hillside native vegetation. Leisure and entertainment areas, such as playgrounds, bocce, fitness outdoor areas are provided along the park as amenities along the park to gather locals and visitor alike.
The cost for the project averages 462 euro per square meter of viaduct or road. |
