The Information-Energy Band consists of an open frame, a wrapping of access and input-output panels, and the services routed through or enclosed within it, adjacent or attached to the road, tunnels, and bridges. Energy is fed into the IEB as it is produced, and taken out as needed, coordinated by SmartGrid technology. Research+Dwelling Pods and Generation Sites are flexibly positioned at their optimum location along or near the route, symbiotically plugging in to the IEB. At Hubs, the IEB expands to shelter rest facilities and interaction spaces, including information exchange and connections to transport loops and existing infrastructures. Budget: ~40M Euro (phase 1) as follows: 40% initial IEB, 10% visitor facilities, 20% currently profitable renewable energy generation, 10% Pods (incl. research grants), 10% Transport/Circulation, 5% Efficiency Programs/Incentives, 5% Management and Outreach. Revenues from tourism and energy sales reinvested to maintain and expand system annually. |
