The Golden Thread is a visible support infrastructure tracing the route of A3, reclaiming the road and strategic adjacent lands as a ‘park’ for tourism, research, and low-energy/renewable energy-producing uses, positioning the region as a net exporter of knowledge and energy, and demonstrating alternatives to standard energy/mobility solutions. Half the carriageway is re-programmed with circulation for non-vehicular travel, sites+shelters for research and dwelling, and facilities that form hubs of connection between tourists, residents, and researchers, linked by paths/transit to surrounding communities and lands. Leading-edge generation, storage, distribution, and conservation methods are deployed along the route, each segment calibrated to existing conditions but sharing a continuous infrastructure armature supporting dense and connective information-energy flows. This armature is designed with capacity for alteration and expansion, including acceptance of future technologies. |
