The new form of Solar Park South as a central stem provides valuable nodes of interaction between the local communities and visitors from elsewhere. This is the first type of space within Solar Park South. These ‘people’ nodes may have a specific function or be appropriated, and encourage further exploration into the park. The second type of space is dedicated to research and testing of renewable energies. Tunnels may be transformed into laboratories, while outdoor stretches can be utilised for testing or exhibiting new ideas. The final space typology, ‘produce’, is where renewable energies are farmed, and is in a symbiotic relationship with research spaces. All three spaces are flexible and temporal in nature, being able to react and change according to need. The presence of Solar Park South will also strengthen the local economy by bringing investment, people power, and responsible tourism into the area, and brand Reggio Calabria as an innovative and exciting region. |
