At the end of the 19th Century -after Hiroshige-,Vincent Van Gogh was able to portray the beauty of striking yellow landscapes, depicting a combination of sun, grains and flowers, and capturing the ‘energy’ contained within these elements. The Solar Park rediscovers the force within those natural resources, ‘intersecting’ it with the practicalities of the biofuels facilities (fields and research), aiming to become a landart-biofuel composite park. A park that cooperates in the investigation of such alternative energy supplies to ultimately sharpen the European decision-making process for this technological prospect. Programmatically, the park allows for a continuous path for walking, running and cycling, forging a sporting culture, while enjoying the magnificent views from the transformed highway; an ‘inhabitable painting’ both composed from and to look at the landscape. |
