| The highway is a long distance high speed connection transformed in the proposal into a slow, local place to be. The characteristics of the transformed strip of highway and its connection to the coast allows the new infrastructure-architecture to be the link of two different realities of Calabria, the sea and the hilly and fascinating outbacks. The new park makes the experience of the place slow and specific, allowing both locals and tourists to enjoy and realize the potentialities and the beauty of the area. This is made possible thanks to improved accessibility and new public functions, also realizable in phases: a self sufficient linear camping, leisure and touristic facilities and a public pedestrian-bike paths. The tunnels are providing a fresh shelter for hikers and locals, hosting at the same time some typical food and wine restaurants and spaces for learning and teaching about sustainability and natural energy sources. |
