| The third biggest city in Spain is a traditional seaport, but it’s access to the Mediterranean Sea was blocked by tank farms, railroad tracks, and in the meantime antiquated harbour industry.
The competition (in collaboration with GMP) decorated with the first prize is a masterplan which is, that develops a new city- and harbour-scape. The incomplete urban axis of the Avenida de Francia is elongated to the harbour and ends up in a v-shaped landmark tower.
The former arroyo of the river Turia transformed into a linear park is made navigable again and flows around the the park on the harbour island in newly trenched channels. Its historical harbour buildings contain cultural usage.
