| Bellaria-Igea Marina Town Council has organized an international competition to promote ideas for arranging, improving and upgrading the architectural landscape of Paolo Guidi Street, which is conventionally defined as “Isola dei Platani” (Plane-tree Isle) with the aim to assume a new possible relation among this street, the afferent streets and the neighboring areas. The aim of the project was to identify a series of actions and works to be executed in order to upgrade the considered area as a whole, regarding both the urban architecture and the relation between public areas and private activities. Isola dei Platani constitutes the socio-economic core of the built-up area in Bellaria: as a matter of fact it is highly attractive because of a consistent concentration of commerce and its cultural yet recreational activities, all taking place in it, especially during spring and summer seasons.
