| A suspended forest of branches creates the sensation of an intricate canopy, artificially bringing the feeling of nature inside throughout the year. A long and narrow slice of the open sky surrounded by the automobile design studios and boardrooms, this courtyard recalls a picturesque canopied roadscape, vanishing towards the horizon and arousing the perception of infinity. Shadows traced across the courtyard floor manifest a feeling of movement and create an abstraction of traveling under a forest. The familiarity of the shadows is confounded as one looks up to see the branches themselves. Cast in fibreglass and painted sky-blue, these branches are a deliberate insertion of the artificial that inverts the perception of nature and intensifies the phenomena of sky and light. |
