| the 2nd phase of the project, a 32m tall building on a 30x40m corner site facing the main square of Ørestad, continues a programatic and organizational appropriation of a hotel. these principles are predicated on a contractual relationship between guest and host that defines the terms of commercial, spatial and temporal exchange. in a standard hotel, the spatial and commercial organization is assigned a bipolar structure: rooms to rent/shared public space. in the hotel pro forma building room and lobby floors alternate in vertical sequence to produce a sectional multiplication of a hotel, delaying and dispersing arrival, check-in, and departure creating varying adjacencies between users. --- with: fieldoffice, arkitektgruppen, ove arup & partners ny, bigert&bergstrom. |
