n architects will stretch across the p.s.1 courtyard a large canopy built with freshly cut green bamboo poles that will turn from green to tan by the end of the summer. canopy relies on a singular tectonic system to bind together provisions for overhead shade and ground cover, resulting in what the architects envisage as a ‘deep landscape’ that will affect the entire depth of the courtyard. pinches in the bamboo lattice will produce a range of shadow densities and patterns across the courtyard and throughout the day. dips in the canopy will define rooms open to the sky, each with a distinct climatic environment provoking different modes of lounging. |
