Cultural Center in Warsaw
Poland, Warsaw
The role of Cultural Centers – one of the relict of the communism period in Poland – in the contemporary polish society needs to be redefined with no doubts. We approached the design process with this assumption and thorough research on what should be the function of this institution nowadays and how would it affect its architecture. We suggested new programmatic organization of the building and instead of creating closed rooms for separate activities we offered open space ready for free interpretation by its users. The building is divided into three zones: space of expression, where both dance or art activities could happen with mutual interaction, the zone of communication with the community, which includes auditorium and exhibition area and the space of concentration. The last one is situated on the highest level of the building, where all of the rooms have a direst connection.
