Howick Place
London
Phillips de Pury are an International auction house who were looking for a London base. This Georgian post office in Victoria offers large, high ceiling open plan spaces in which a gallery and auction room was created. Nissen Adams worked with New York designer, Bill Katz on this project. After temporary exhibitions and auctions over the last two years, the second stage was to create a permanent auction house in the same building, with gallery spaces, auction room, offices, tea shop and book shop. The idea of contrasting the strength and character of the existing building with perfect, neutral gallery walls is the key theme for the project. The ground floor and first floor is now open and design is under way on the second floor opening Autumn 2008.
