Hamburg Wilhelmsburg - first prize
The design includes the creation of a 110 hectare park which satisfies modern demands on sport, play and recreational uses and spaces for communication for the over 30 nationalities living in Hamburg. The motto given to the park is 'Around the World in 80 Gardens' loosely based on the Jules Verne novel. Inside narrow streches of land -passages- a voyage through the gardens of the world unfolds. A loop road following the model of a ship’s route, connects the single passages and ties them together. Look-outs and buildings chart the course. In the presentation year of the show the park has to integrate areas for theme gardens, flower shows and catering meeting international standards.
