new york, new york - selected
we envision the opening of new york city’s high line to the public as creative urban archaeology. our intention is to provide citizens a unique new perspective on the city while reconsidering the original purposes of the west side’s elevated rail in an “el-topia”. we propose an elevated walkway that maintains the overgrown splendor that the high line has become host to in the last two decades, while adding new elements that intensify the experience of a pedestrian path and place of reflection above the street. nature has reclaimed this ruin; we strive only to further harmonize the manmade and organic elements through walkways, platforms, and limited new development.
