The Banded Renewal concept integrates several sustainable technologies. The SolarNet Viaduct, WindTurbine Viaduct, and small-scale hydroelectric channels harvest energy, thus supplying the surrounding region with clean renewable energy. The GreenWall Viaduct counteracts ecological fragmentation and experiments with rapidly renewable resources. The RainFunnel Viaduct collects rainwater and the SolarWater Viaduct heats water, both for public use. Existing vehicular tunnels are lit by reflective solar tubes from the surface and harvested of CO2 emissions. This CO2 is used as fuel for algae bioreactors on the surface. New interventions and facilities are integrated with the existing infrastructure to minimize costs. Additionally, the Banded Renewal concept can be phased with the initial energy production and sustainable research revenue funding future phases. Furthermore, the revenue producing nature of the concept will allow the project to eventually offset its costs. |
