The “Aero-Pod” designed by SoPa-Studio, is lightweight membrane structure spanning 280 metres along the Sfalasa Viaduct and 120m tall. Its primary structure is a rigid inflated lightweight membrane, supporting translucent skin. The skin integrated with PV cells is made with ETFE pillows with mechanical openings, to reduce heat and provide natural ventilation. At the bottom, the pod is equipped with wind turbines to capture coastal wind off the Mediterranean Sea. |
