The aquaponic farms are made of multiple flexible tubes hosting planting and watering circuits, connecting to the fish tanks and inhabiting different elements of the highway (landscape, viaducts, tunnels, asphalt, structures). They consist of: Fish tanks in tunnel exits creating a cave-like sensation with sounds of water and fish reflections on the vault. Tubes carrying water to the plants using the highway’s natural inclination; the remaining water is then pumped back to the tanks. Protrusions of different sizes on the tubes host endemic vegetables and decorative plants. The same tubes function as a modular system of construction for the various facilities. They spread as tentacles creating different levels and heights of cultivations, volumes and narrow passages to walk through, an artificial ecosystem in dialogue with the existing landscape. Some tubes carry light sources that at night create a comets’ tale effect emphasizing movement and speed. |
