| The entry walk gently and rhythmically guides visitors up a steep, oak-strewn hill in this project in a San Francisco suburb. A series of turns and pauses force attention to the walk itself rather than the destination. Path and courtyards embrace the visitor with folded sheets of corten steel and wedges of concrete. One senses the human hand at work, juxtaposing crafted materials against nature to create layered spaces through simplicity and restraint. |
