| The space is the biggest luxury of Our time. But what is small isn’t necessarily worth little: "small" can be a synonym of simple, charming, and give a feeling of concentration, that more and more often is due to a discerning use of light. Nowadays, light is one of the most important elements in the contemporary design, and a careful use of natural and artificial light often makes the most even of small spaces, making them appear largest. The first step in the project plan was making a preliminary valuation of the brightness of every room of the house, checking where the light fell during the day. Then, some horizontal and vertical “cuts” were placed to cheer up the interiors for the daily use (windows, skylights); for the lights other deep and longitudinal “cuts” were placed in the kitchen and in the bathroom (the rooms with the most sloping roof of this mansard). |
