Andrea Cochran is the principal and founder of Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture, established in 1998. She has been practicing as a landscape architect in the San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty five years. Ms. Cochran’s distinct body of work places her clients’ individual narratives in conversation with the land to create designs with deeply personal meanings. Her professional experience in the office of Jose Luis Sert was pivotal in informing an approach to landscape design which mediates the intersection of architecture, landscape and the larger environment. The work of site-specific artists is important to her designs, adding both new perspectives and material innovation. In 2006 Ms. Cochran was a finalist for the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards. A monograph of her work will be published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2009.
