Commissioned by a client in his early 20s, Century Park East is a renovation project for a small one-bedroom condominium unit. Working in a residential high-rise tower (an oddity in Angelinos residential typology) represented a new way of working and thinking: striving to connect with the outdoors (typically Angelino) while “off-the-ground”. Much of the layout strategy was dictated by a dual process of subtraction and realignments. The conversations with the client led us to constantly rethink and reconsider how he would live and use his space, and developed into the custom designed kitchen cabinet/table which constitutes the focal point of the intervention.
