The Iceland Academy of the Arts has a central location on the main shopping street in Reykjavik. The 20.000m2 building unites the existing institutes for art, architecture, design, theatre and music under one roof. Furthermore it contains a library and a gallery as well as theatre and music halls. The project will enhance Reykjavik’s vibrant and dynamic urban life and be a new place for students, employees and citizens to meet – which the large open atrium certainly appeals to. The is designed in collaboration with +arkitektar.
