Liberate Me
La Biennale di Venezia 2008
Project is competition proposal for installation in Serbian pavilion at 11th Architectural Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2008. The idea was to present Serbian contemporary environment and its aspiration to become part of European borderless society through architectural metaphor of liberated space. Using the accurate photorealistic wallpaper that presents imminent surrounding of the national pavilion at Giardini, the walls become nonexistent, creating the illusion of immaterial borders. The volume of the pavilion is filled with red balloons, freckles of space that tend to liberate themselves towards the sky. Using the language of architecture of festival, project Liberate Me questions media attention, values and importance of Serbian contemporary architectural practices.
