Tolhuis garden Amsterdam
Amsterdam
Temporary playground The Tolhuis garden is a temporary garden project for the city of Amsterdam. It is situated on the north banks of the IJ lake and is planned as a revitalization of an existing garden area which is now inaccessible and run-down. Our concept for the Tolhuis garden is for a garden within a park. The garden will be accessible via buildings around the garden. This strategy amplifies the hidden qualities of the space and the relationship between the buildings and the garden. It also enables the use of planting and elements which are more vulnerable than those used in other public spaces.
