SOUNDSCAPE
Norway
The project is designed to honor and celebrate Arne Norheim, an internationally recognized composer of contemporary music. The structure is planned as a crossing between an abstract instrument and a public space. The brass sculpture allows people not just to listen to sounds, but also to participate in the composition of it. A sound work, made by different composers, continuously generates new sound patterns activated by sensors picking up actual movements of visitors. Various microphones, sensors and software are combined with wooden acoustic boxes and brass surfaces to create a mysterious and engaging environment.
