Art of Chiropractic, Clinic and Art Gallery
Minneapolis, Minnesota - first prize
The genesis of this project is placed in the desire of the client to marry the art and science of chiropractic practice. Desire to produce a soothing and inspirational space became a major guiding issue. The goal was to create an environment conducive to both chiropractic practice as well as the exhibition of fine arts. Diagnosing and healing through touch is the foundation of chiropractic practice. The tactile fabric walls, then, become an aesthetic in concert with the function of the space. The fabric itself, was selected for its ease of installation and cleaning, as well as its durability, elasticity, translucency, and affordability. It is attached to 4 feet high partition walls using steel grommets and a bracket designed by the team. The low walls act to conceal fluorescent light fixtures within the wall cavity, illuminating the fabric panels and rendering them opaque. Art of Chiropractic has won two major design merit awards.
