The station area of Enschede is transformed into an urban development and architectonic showpiece. The three squares are entirely devoted to the theme of transferring from the railway to other means of transport, and they are related in programme, language of forms, and materials. The traveller’s junction is an important urban meeting place where travellers briefly await transfer. As a counterpart to these areas, an entirely different quality is presented on the opposite side of the station. A small green section, as passageway and meeting place between the newly to be developed offices, adds the quality of a ‘green gem’ close to the city centre ‘green gem’ close to the city centre.
