Landscape architecture for an office block and res
Hamburg, Hafencity
Magnificent views of Hamburg’s harbor, proximity to the city center and an intimate atmosphere together endow the open areas at Dalmann Wharf, a new architectural project in Hamburg’s Hafencity. The courtyard opens directly onto the spacious harbor and water is hence its most distinctive characteristic. This theme is taken up by simple elements and use typologies that create a decidedly maritime atmosphere: wooden decks, lawns, sun-loungers, parasols … and a sea breeze. The courtyard entrance is similarly aquatic in orientation, with a dragonfly motive adorning its gate, and seashells and grasses that mark the way in. Division of the courtyard into intimate sub-spaces allows for a rich variety of different uses. The courtyard is designed as an al fresco “interior” for the residents and furbished with specially developed customized elements.
