Garden in Villa Adriana
Villa Adriana
A garden in the countryside of Rome, near Villa Adriana, for both the private use of the family and the reception of guests coming from Rome. The design made a subtle reference to the traditional Japanese garden architecture - especially that of the Tea Garden - where the spirit of hospitality is most of all emphasized. The garden adjacent to the salon, open to the landscape beyond, is in karesansui style where three types of rocks, representative of this landscape - travertine, tufo and marble - are arranged in a most essential manner, telling the story in which a boat (symbolized by a piece of marble) transports a block of travertine to construct magnificent buildings in Rome such as Colosseum.
