BaNanna Park
Nørrebro, Denmark
BaNanna Park, located in the outer Nørrebro in Copenhagen, is owned by the Municipality of Copenhagen. The Neighbourhood Renewal in Mimersgade asked NORD to make a master plan proposal for the park. Many different user groups – local inhabitants, schools and other institutions – have participated in the project development via citizen meetings, dialogue meetings and public hearings. Children and youngsters from the neigbourhood have been involved via By X, fantasizing and visualizing their dream park. In this way the users have played an active role in the development of the concept, content and outline for the park. The proposal presents three zones supporting different everyday usages. “The jungle” is equipped with greenery and facilities for play and “the square” with a more urban content, whereas all furniture on “the lawn” is pushed aside to create as much space as possible. The banana is an integrated part of the lawn, a rise.
