Meat Helmet
SIGGRAPH, FILE, 404, iDMAa - selected
Meat Helmet is a scrutinizing look at the absurd attempt of fast food chains to market to the health conscious. Recently, McDonald's produced the Adult Happy Meal, complete with a pedometer. This step-counter was a laughable attempt to derail a growing awareness of McDonald's most unhealthy menu selections. SWAMP's Meat Helmet introduces the antithetical adult-happy meal; designed to reveal, rather than conceal, the contradictions inherent with health-conscious fast food. Pneumatic 'air muscles' control the helmet, forcing the user to eat at intervals specified by a CPU located on a belt. A keypad allows the user to punch-in the amount of calories about to be consumed, where the program will calculate how many chews are needed to burn them off. The robotic exoskeleton then forces a chewing workout. Project Website - http://swamp.nu/projects/meathelmet.html
