SUB_TRAKT
HfG '02 - MAC '03 - BUDASCOOP '06
Interactive installation by Anne Niemetz & Holger Foerterer
SUB_TRAKT was designed for public spaces. A camera attached to the ceiling captures the activities in the observation space, persons in this observed area experience a direct acoustic feedback of their movements. In the presentation space the movements simultaneously dig lanes into the three-dimensional cuboid and deep tracks remain. Intermediate spaces are left as elevations – a landscape of movement is formed. In time, the trodden tracks grow back to original height, until a new movement alters these spots again. The sound in the presentation space correlates with the structure of the virtual substance. The concept relates Virilio's theory of negative space to the theory of white noise as a basic sound material. See: www.subtrakt.de
