Volkswagen Mobile Life Campus - 15ha
Wolfsburg - first prize
Volkswagen AG is founding an international university with a campus in Wolfsburg. The Mobile Life Campus is sited on the top of the Hageberges hill and attaches to the neighbouring park landscape. The first of 5 coming university buildings is looking out on the open fields and on 2 dikes, which in a later phase will be developed into a lush park-landscape with a lake. The sculptural way of dealing with the area creates an image of the past pastoral landscape. The campus is interpreted as an idealized agrarian landscape that originates in the way of cultivating the earth through folding. The earth terraces and the stone slopes that is created from the modelling of the landscape, in combination with the graphic rhythm, appear as an almost barock geometrical representable surface in connection with the building. Walking along the crossing Campus Street you will experience a transformed field!
