A proposal for the chapels, mortuary, embalming chambers, crematorium and attendant car parking for the Gufunes churchyard. The building is sited in a low hill to the south of the existing graveyard. The hill is excavated and then roofed with a perforated shell covering the car park to protect the mourners from the ravages of the inclement climate and to reduce the visual impact of the sea of cars on the sensitive environment. To the south the periphery of the car park is marked by the raw, exposed rock whereas to the north a series of gardens welcome the approach to the three chapels. The service facilities are located at a lower level with direct access to the graveyard.
