In this project the necessary roofing of a carpentry company’s lumberyard is used to create more living space. Simultaneously to the construction of the shed roof over the company’s store house, a large four-room apartment with several differently situated exterior spaces is planned. Cut out terraces and inner courtyards enlarge the effective living space without exceeding the regulatory floor space (the floor space includes only the rooms that are enclosed on all sides). However, during some periods of the year, the habitants of the sunny South Tyrol absolutely enjoy living in rooms with an open-roof or with one missing outside wall. Many diverse free spaces which are similar to exterior rooms enlarge the apartment and lead consequently to a drastic increase of living quality.
