Is it possible to make a tensile structure out of roundwood? Yes it is. We do believe in pushing the limits of architecture on timber structures. Italian Architectural History is traditionally based on mansonry, brick/stoneworks and voulted structures, influencing the entire Italian architectural history on the surviving traces of ancient romans. The big part missing in those traces, it is also missed in our Architecture schools: timber structures. From the romans to Leonardo, Fontana and Peruzzi and others, the use on timber structures for several purposes in Italy is remarkable and widely lost. Gluelam is not enough for us, it is time to redescover our past.
