Carrara (MS) - finalist
The landscape of the marble quarries is like no other. Its uniqueness is due to the characteristic stone, the Carrara marble, and to centuries of human work. The white terraced slopes are a collective sculpture at the landscape scale, and the project takes shape from that. The building size is minimum. The thermal pools follow the profile of the terraces, changing shape and depth, and intercept the best lighting possible. An ethereal footbridge links them rhythmically. A lightweight roof covers them and points the look to the surrounding landscape: the thermal bath becomes a pure aesthetic experience.
