Sarajevo Concert Hall
Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina - mentioned
The proposed concert hall aims to embody music as part of urban life and is thus characterized by permeability. It redefines the public space of sarajevo's cultural and political centre by prolonging the different parts of the city topographically into the building and around the two stages. From the foyer, this twisting gesture creates multiple views back into the city. The building can be read as a diagram of accessibility negotiating acoustical and structural requirements. Gaps for the incoming and emitted light are the result, supporting the idea of entanglement versus enclosure. Perceived in motion the 'ribbons' of the envelope create alternating moments of openness and solidity.
