new space concept for issey miyake
paris, france 2002 -
design intent: issey miyake conceives clothes that go beyond stylistic matters, fundamentally questioning the materiality, fabrication and structure of clothes. we imagined a space made out of overlapping strips that fold from ceiling to wall to floor. the gaps between the strips allow the filtering of light, they are also the space where the clothes are presented. the strips envelop the space, they can deform to generate a counter, table or chair. adopting to each situation and context, the strips can be made out of different materials, for each space only one material will be used, opaque or translucent.
architects: ammar eloueini and céline parmentier, digit-all studio.
