2009. We propose a focal point of a transit station, junior college, library and a city hall. These buildings will be separated by a busy intersection and strategically frame the spaces in between the roads.
2013. Once the subway and rail infrastructures are complete, the whole town will be off limits to automobiles. Parking lots will become quadrangles informed by the adjacent building programs. The roads will stay as public domain and their intersections will become nodes. 2013+. The focal point's appropriation of the roads as forums will be the generative guide for the town, in which a critical mass of spontaneous yet meaningful forums will be brought forth. Through the simultaneity of virtual strategy, with real world presence, a new level of emergence in which a civic sense suited to the internet age may find itself not divorced from the physical world. |
